As a parent and a grandparent, we always want what is best for our children. We want our children happy and to protect them from hardship and sorrow. From heartbreak and agony. But unfortunatley, I cannot always protect my kids from these realities. The reality my son and daughter in law are now facing is one that I can't bear for them. They must face this head on. Christopher and Lexi Nevels are expecting a new child. Often times this is the epitome of happiness. For months we have celebrated and prepared with our family and friends. Baby showers and cake have been enjoyed by many in baby Knox's name. Already a beautiful mother to my grandson Camden Andrew, Lexi knew what to expect under normal circumstances. Full of joy, Christopher and Lexi began preparations to welcome our new lil buddy into the world. A bit into the pregnancy, the doctors notified Lexi she would need to see a specialist as there were some potential complications. We prayed and put our hope into The Lord that this may be a mistake or an oversight of some kind. After seeing the specialists at Cincinatti Childrens hospital, it was determined that our little buddy Knox is up against incredible odds. Knox's brain and brain stem are underdeveloped, he has a clef palate and clef lip. He is tiny, and he is also in the 17th percentile for his size at this point. There are possible vision issues, bowel issues and possible hearing issues. Due to the fact there are so many issues, Lexi and Christopher are going to HAVE to travel to Cincinatti a lot in the coming months. On top of that, some of these hospital stays will be days and possibly weeks long. This going to be a major financial burden on them. We all are rallying around them and will be there every step of the way, but the Hospital is almost 3 hours one way from home. Christopher is an amazing father and he works incredibly hard for his family. Taking off of work to be there with her will definitely put him in an impossible situation. He will have to choose between paying bills or going with Lexi. We are praying everyday for some good news. We know God is in the business of miracles and healing and we believe He will put His hands on this situation. Faith is what carries us through the many challenges all of us face everyday. I would ask you to please find it in your heart to make a donation big or small. Anything will help and it will go along way in helping this young family find their way through this difficult time. I understand times are incredibly tough for everyone now more than ever. Any amount you could donate would really make a difference and allow CHristopher and Lexi to focus on the difficult work ahead. Thank you so much for your support and God bless.
