Support Christin's Journey to a Bright Healthy Smile

This GoFundMe is for my amazing mother, Christin. If you know my mum, you know her smile has always come easy and is infectious. Due to a debilitating fear of the dentist throughout her life, she has just let cavities get so bad that they just put her to sleep and pull the tooth. I guess they didn’t think to replace any of them along the way. Or that the outcome would be no more teeth.

So, to be able to chew again (and smile), my mom will have to have all her remaining teeth on the top and bottom removed. After that, they will surgically implant 3 anchors top and 3 on the bottom into her jaw bone. Then, they will design the teeth that will be permanently connected to those anchors. There’s a little more involved but that’s basically the $52,000 procedure. She has had 3 second opinions, this cost is the lowest of those three. As of right now, other than her 2 top front teeth and 4 bottom front teeth, she doesn’t have teeth on the top and bottom that line up to chew, there are also many missing and broken. She has exposed roots that are very painful.

Recently her top front teeth have begun to crack and her second front tooth broke off at the gum line last month. She has to keep taking antibiotics to keep the infection from spreading. Eating went from limited to minimal. My Dad makes lots of smoothies. I can’t imagine the two things that we all love to do the most - eat and smile, the most natural things a human can do and she can’t do without pain, embarrassment and hiding. Talking and meeting people is embarrassing and uncomfortable and now she avoids the things she has always loved to do. Not to mention meeting new people is what she does for work in sales. I don’t know why medical or dental insurance won't cover things like this when teeth are literally one of the most essential bones in the body.
