Celebrating Christine's Life

Donation protected
Update: My beautiful mother, Christine Saferight, is now at peace in Heaven. She has the joy of being pain free and in the presence of the Lord. What a blessing it was to care for her and to be with her to say goodbye so peacefully. She passed on January 24th, 2024.

This GoFundMe has been a lighthouse of support for my family. The outpouring of love has been incredible to witness. My mom's medical bills are being taken care of, expensive prescriptions have been paid for, and my family has been able to be together. Looking forward, after the service arrangements are taken care of, any remaining donations will be given to Robert to allow him to take care of the house, the girls, his bills and living expenses in the aftermath of this huge loss.

Please join us in celebrating my mother's life on February 10th at 1 pm. Wear pink to the Zion Community Church at 5400 Charles Page Blvd. in Tulsa, OK, 74127. Light refreshments will follow.

Thank you all.

Original Story:
Friends and family, I set up this GoFundMe for my beautiful mother, Christine, who is now fighting for her life. On December 2nd, she was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer -- words I'm finding very difficult to type.

This diagnosis comes as a shock; my mother sought medical treatment for excruciating abdominal pain over the summer and fall. She was first sent home with measures to relieve constipation, and then told she should address her joint pain. Unfortunately, it took a third ER visit a few weeks ago to figure out exactly what our family is facing.

A biopsy of her pancreas was done on December 5th. On December 20th we were told that those results were non-diagnostic. We have to confirm the exocrine nature of these "spots" to ensure that she receives the proper treatment. In order to expedite a diagnostic result, a trip to University of Texas Southwest Medical Center in Dallas was made. We are waiting on the results of the liver biopsy done in Dallas before enacting a treatment plan.

We should have these results in the next few days. She has a hard and expensive fight ahead of her.

My bonus dad, Robert, will need to take time off from work to care for his lovely bride. For 3 years, he and our mom acted as caregivers for his mother, Sylvia Saferight. Sylvia passed away in September this year, so Robert's role as caregiver and provider has had no chance for a break.

There are improvements to their home that would make both he and my mom more comfortable (someone please come help us get this carpet out of their kitchen, ha!), as well as a stack of bills already piling up. Some of my mom's medications and treatment will be covered, but not all of it.

Us 3 older kids, Josh, Christian, and myself, Kate, are rallying around my mom from afar as best as we can. We were able to travel as a team to see Mom and make some good memories this holiday season. Our younger sisters, Lilly and Paige, are still at home and doing all they can to take care of her.

Thank you all for the support and love we have already received. The whole month of December has been a blur, and we know it is with the love and kindness that comes from community that our mom will fight through this. Every donation and share of this page is a big help, and again we thank you all.

P.S. My mom has made a few updates on her Facebook, please show her extra love there! She enjoys being told how wonderful she is, and yes, you can tell her I said that. :)
