Support Christine's Fight for Life-Saving Transplants

Donation protected

Update 10/5/2024
First, we would like to thank everyone for their generous donations, sharing and support. We cherish everyone’s contribution. Thank you all for your patience during this difficult time.

Christine passed on her own terms on September 18, 2024. She was surrounded by family and transitioned peacefully at the Bailey Hospice Center. While we miss her terribly, we are grateful she is no longer suffering or in pain.

The Go Fund Me page will remain up and running for updates and donations. At this time, all further donations will be put towards caring for Bradley. He will be starting high school next year. Our goal is to maintain as much normalcy as possible for him while we adjust to Christine’s absence.

Her celebration of life will be held early next year. More details to come.

Christine Seely needs your help. My sister has been dealing with medical challenges over the past 18 months that have recently worsened and required hospitalization. She is now a candidate for multiple organ transplants.

In Feb 2023, Christine was very sick with a COVID infection. She was hospitalized at Shands Gainesville in March of 2023 due to severe abdominal pain. Christine had a massive blood clot in her liver and two clots in her abdomen. She underwent two surgeries attempting to remove the clots and a stent in the portal vein to restore blood flow to her liver. The stent and daily bloodthinner shots seemed to work for over a year.

Beginning May of this year, Christine became increasingly sick. In June there were 3 trips to the emergency room. Then, on June 19th, she was rushed to Baptist South Hospital in Jacksonville, FL where she was admitted. Doctors there realized she would need a liver transplant, at which time she was transferred to UF Health Shands in Gainesville.

At Shands her condition continued to worsen every day. The medical team did extensive testing and concluded that Christine has a serious post-COVID clotting disorder, causing the stent to become occluded. In spite of the blood thinners, the large clot continued to grow which prevented proper blood flow to her liver and caused other digestive organs to be compromised. She was also fighting aggressive bacterial and fungal infections. The liver transplant doctors at Shands realized Christine needed more than a new liver, so they referred her to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

On July 2, 2024 she arrived at Jackson, one of the few hospitals in America that does multi-visceral transplants. On July 27th, she became “listed as a candidate” for multiple organ transplants. She needs a new stomach, liver, pancreas, intestines, colon and possibly more. After the transplant surgeries and weeks of recovery in the hospital, she is required to live near Jackson Memorial for app 4-6 months.

Christine has a very difficult, long road ahead of her. Her entire life is on hold while she fights for her life in intensive care. Funds donated will be put towards Christine’s bills, medical expenses, helping Maggie, our mom, to stay in Miami with her, and the care for her son, Bradley. Christine needs as much love, support, encouragement and help she can get right now. She is not permitted to have fresh flowers but can have balloons and cards.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support or help you can offer.
