Christine’s Path to Recovery Needs You!

Our mother, Christine, has always been a fighter. Before her diagnosis, she was thriving—walking over five miles daily, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and embracing a renewed sense of confidence. However, in August, everything changed. A sudden, intense pain led to several back fractures and a series of tests that revealed the devastating diagnosis of multiple myeloma—a rare and aggressive blood cancer that attacks the bone marrow, causing fractures, severe pain, organ failure and life-threatening complications.

Despite this, Christine has faced every challenge with remarkable strength and resilience. Standing at her new height of 5’5” from compression fractures, she is currently undergoing intensive treatment, and while we are grateful for the progress she has made, the financial burden of her care on top of regular living expenses is overwhelming. With insurance costs from COBRA, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses piling up, the stress of managing these costs while being out of work has been crushing. Unfortunately, out of work, she’s provided no financial relief, and left with limited income that doesn’t even cover her insurance payments.

The next phase of Christine’s treatment is a tandem stem cell transplant—an extensive and grueling process requiring three separate trips to Arkansas, where she will stay in an inpatient facility for three weeks at a time. During this time, she will undergo stem cell removal, replacement, and high-dose chemotherapy, followed by additional treatments upon returning home to New York. This procedure gives her the best chance for long-term survival, but it also brings significant financial strain.

Cancer doesn’t just attack the body—it robs a person of their livelihood, security, and peace of mind. We are watching it take so much from our mother, and while we can’t fight the disease for her, we can come together to ease the financial burden she faces. This fundraiser aims to help cover her insurance, medical, living and travel expenses, ensuring she can focus on what matters most—her recovery and a future free from financial hardship.
