Christine Knox, my daughter, has been on a long and difficult journey with her heart condition for many years. Recently, her doctors at UofM told us it was time to move forward with a heart transplant, as her condition had worsened. She moved into the hospital on January 12, 2026, and received her transplant on January 30, 2026. While we are hopeful for a brighter future, we know the road ahead will be challenging. The first year after her surgery will require frequent hospital visits, heart catheterizations, biopsies to check for rejection, and twice-weekly bloodwork, all of which are essential for her recovery.
The reason for this fundraiser is to help cover the many expenses that come with Christine’s ongoing care. We will be making weekly trips of over two hours each way to UofM for her post-transplant appointments, as well as twice-weekly bloodwork. Lyle, her boyfriend, has been by her side through it all and will continue to care for her as she recovers, which means he has had to take time off work as required by her doctors. I have also been caring for Christine’s daughter, who is facing her own health challenges, and we do our best to visit her every Saturday. These circumstances have made it difficult for us to manage all the added medical and travel expenses on our own.
I want to thank everyone in advance for all the support we’ve received so far, and for the long-term support we’ll need throughout this first year after Christine’s transplant. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to our family, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can provide.
