Support Christine’s road to recovery

Hello Dear friends , family and generous strangers. My name is Mayho and I am fundraising for my dearest friend Christine. I’ve known her for over 20 years now and she is the most adventurous, kind hearted and generous person.

When Christine found out she was expecting, she did everything she needed to do to ensure her baby would be healthy. As with any first time mom, she was worried about everything. “Would I be able to push?” “ Will it hurt?” “ Will I be a good mom ?”

After many hours in labor, an emergency c section allowed her to meet her beautiful baby boy. Her son did everything a mom would hope for. His breathing was good, his heart was strong, his cry was loud! Many new moms envision being able to snuggle their new baby and go home to start their happy story. As much as this was our hope for her, the birth lead to unforeseen complications.

Christine suffered a hemorrhage and lost a dangerous amount of blood. Multiple transfusions took place to stabilize her and everyone thought this was the worst of it… she should be fine now right?

Unfortunately she was in the ICU after her baby was born and doctored eventually realized there was severe damage to her kidneys when her body was in distress from the hemorrhage. The blood transfusions was able to save vital organs like the brain, heart , lungs but the kidney did not respond to this.

Christine endured a lot of pain and eventually was told dialysis would need to happen in hopes that it would give her kidneys a break. She’s been in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and dialysis has been apart of her daily treatment. She hopes to be discharged soon but permanent damage to the kidney has occurred and dialysis will need to be part of her normal routine when she leaves the hospital. The doctors has also advised her that they will put her on the list for kidney transplant as dialysis may not be enough.

I am not sure why this is happening to her and I am still waiting for someone to tell me this is all just a bad dream. Christine is the most gentle and sweetest soul. Disbelief is the only word that comes to mind to describe the last few weeks.

Christine spirit has broken many times since but seeing her baby as well as the support from her friend and family, has given her joy and a spark of courage.

Many have asked if there is something we can do to help and I am starting this page in hopes that funds raised would help lessen the burden of medical care in her long journey to recovery. The funds would also help for childcare when Christine will be away for her treatments and doctor's appointments.
