Support Christina's Recovery in Appalachia with Just $1

My name is Maria Glover, and I currently live in Los Angeles CA. I’m originally from North Carolina and I am asking for support from any that are able to raise funds for a very dear friend, Christina (Chrissy). Chrissy lives in Etowah NC in the Appalachia region that has been impacted by Hurricane Helene.

On Thursday September 26th the rains of Hurricane Helene began to fall throughout the Appalachia region. By nightfall most of the area was already experiencing major flooding. As the storm pushed north, rains and wind grew stronger and as Friday approached, what the world knew of Appalachia USA, would changed forever.

As my heart breaks for so many who have lost so much, from their entire livelihood to many their lives altogether. I thank the good Lord above that he spared Christina’s life and although there is much to do and a long road ahead, she is safe and working along side her community to help in any way she can at the moment.

She is out of work, and with the uncertainty of when they will have just basic things like water, electricity and accessible roads, when regular work can resume to provide income is even more questionable.

Like many others of the Ashville area, her entire livelihood is dependent on Asheville’s robust tourism. As the next months ahead are expected to be some of the most unpredictable times for those of the Appalachia area, I ask if you could please donate just $1 to help Christina as she recovers and rebuilds her life and her community in Western North Carolina.

As the much needed supplies pour in to help those in need of immediate basic necessities, my goal is to help provide Christina funds to help her with financial expenses as the days move forward. The uncertainty of how next months rent and bills in general will get paid are stress factor that shouldn’t cross a single individual mind as they are processing how to recover, and my goal is to help lift that burden as much as possible.
