Hello, my name is Christina. I’m a recent college graduate currently working at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. I’m reaching out during an incredibly difficult time after being involved in a serious car accident.

After finishing a shift at work, I was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Tasman and Lawrence in Sunnyvale when my car was suddenly rear-ended at full speed by another driver (blue Toyota Prius).

 The impact was severe, my car was struck at approximately 45–50 mph while I was completely stationary. Both vehicles were totaled.

The driver who hit me admitted that they fell asleep, and then quickly changed their story stating that their brakes failed. Unfortunately, they had no insurance, no valid driver’s license, and appeared to be living in their car. Police responded and issued citations, but I’ve been advised by legal counsel that pursuing damages through the court system would likely be pointless, as the individual most likely has no means to pay.

It’s upsetting to know that I may never receive any accountability or support from the person who caused this. I’ve been left to shoulder the emotional and physical toll on my own, while they walk away without consequence. This has been incredibly difficult to accept.

This incident has left me without a vehicle, which I depend on daily to commute to work and manage personal responsibilities. To make matters worse, both of my dogs were with me at the time, as my fiancé and I switch off bringing them home from work. Thankfully, they are stable for now, but I’m watching them closely and monitoring for signs of injury.

I sustained physical injuries that are not critical at the moment, but I’m still being evaluated, and symptoms may worsen with time. This entire situation has been physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming.

I’m asking for support to help recover from this traumatic event, whether it’s toward transportation, medical costs, veterinary care for my dogs, or other urgent expenses. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean so much to me during this time.
