Support Christina's Journey as a Death Doula

Donation protected
My name is Noelia and I am helping my neighbor fulfill her dream of becoming a Death Doula through an organization called Abode in San Antonio, TX.

I have known Christina for the last 4.5 years since we moved to our home. She is a retired psychologist and Spiritual Director and has recently embarked on a new journey helping those who are transitioning in life.

On a walk, Christina mentioned that she would like to pursue this continued education course but given her retirement salary, is unable to cover the tuition as she has limited income. I am asking for your donation to help her fulfill this lifelong dream. She is currently volunteering her time at Abode and would like to further her education to be able to continue her work and help those in need.

The program fees are $1500 (as published online) and the other money will be used to pay for books and supplies.

Below is a note from her on why she appreciates your support:

I would greatly appreciate if you would support me with my calling to be a death doula. I believe it combines my talents as a psychologist and spiritual director into a gift of companionship for each dying person I will be privileged to assist in their transition.

We will all die one day. One fear most people have about dying is that they will die alone. In my own small way, I would like to help alleviate that fear. Birth doulas help bring life into the world and death doulas or end of life doulas help guide the dying person through the transition of death as peacefully and dignified as possible. We provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support to both the dying person and their family.

Death doulas are advocates for the dying person and support their wishes. They assist in getting their affairs in order and help the family with funeral arrangements and understanding the death process. We are there to provide comfort, meaning, and support through listening, sharing knowledge, logistical coordination, ritual, and presence. The most meaningful part of my job is being a reassuring presence as the person reflects on their life, heals unfinished business, finds meaning in the life they have lived, and faces the transition of death.

Thank you for your support in making this world a kinder place. Know as you contemplate your own death it will help you focus on living your best life.

With gratitude,

Christina
