Our daughter Christina is one of the strongest people we know. For the past seven years, she has been bravely fighting a rare and devastating disease—Hereditary Chronic Pancreatitis—that causes extreme pain, irreparably damages the pancreas and other organs, and increases her risk of pancreatic cancer.
During this time Christina has endured countless hospital stays, a medical trial, and unending procedures, but none has brought lasting relief. Recently, she was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, caused by the HCP, in which her body is attacking healthy cells and leading to an additional diagnosis of Type I Diabetes. Through it all, she has faced every setback with incredible faith and courage.
On October 10th Christina will be undergoing a Total Pancreatectomy and Islet Auto Transplant (TPIAT), in which her pancreas, spleen, appendix, gall bladder and duodenum are removed, and critical cells from the pancreas are transplanted into her liver, with the goal of vastly improving her quality of life.
The 14-hour surgery is life-changing but brutal, with a hospital stay of approximately 3-4 weeks and recovery up to a year. Christina has been unable to work steadily for quite some time, and we know for certain she’ll be unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.
But she is a warrior, and we lean on God’s grace and the power of prayer to bring about full healing.
The road ahead will be long, and medical bills and living expenses are overwhelming. We’re asking for your help in covering these costs, so Christina can focus on recovery. And if you can’t donate, please pray for her healing, and consider sharing this campaign with family and friends.
Every donation, healing thought, and most of all, prayer, is deeply appreciated!
