Support Christina: A Journey of Hope and Resilience

Hi, my name is Marnie. I am reaching out to share the story of my incredible cousin, Christina, who has faced unimaginable challenges with unwavering strength and determination throughout her whole life. Christina is not only a cherished family member but also a true friend— she is genuine, charismatic, and full of passion. As a devoted supporter of Collingwood and someone who brings a smile to everyone around her, she deserves our love and support now more than ever.

Christina’s journey has been fraught with trials that no one should have to endure. She has bravely battled breast cancer, a brain aneurism and much more, facing each diagnosis with courage that inspires those lucky enough to know her. However, the past year took a devastating turn when Christina suffered a stroke, at Christmas time, that nearly claimed her life. After countless scares, surgeries, therapies, and moments of uncertainty, she is now leaving rehabilitation to continue her recovery at her sons home in Melbourne.

Her daughter-in-law, Sasha, has selflessly taken a year off work to care for Christina full-time, while her son, Brad, has also reduced his hours to provide the necessary supports. They have completely transformed their lives, home and financial situation, to ensure Christina receives the best possible care. Their dedication is truly commendable, but it comes with significant challenges.

Unfortunately, Christina and her family are unable to access any funding for at least a year or more due to their current situation. Given the extent of her needs, it’s clear that Christina will never be able to live independently again and will require full-time, high-level care and support.

I genuinely want to help them during this difficult time. Since I live some distance away and cannot provide the hands-on support I wish I could, I decided that creating this fund would be the best way for all of us to contribute and alleviate some of the financial burdens they are facing. By coming together, we can make a meaningful difference in Christina’s life and support her journey toward recovery.
