We are devastated to share that after approximately a year in remission, Christian’s leukemia is back. His only option at this point is to move forward with a stem cell transplant. We are so hopeful this will be what heals him.

In order for him to receive the transplant, he must live within 30 minutes of his hospital, which is located in Houston. He cannot be left alone at any point during the treatment so I will be moving to Houston as his caregiver with Christian for the foreseeable future while Kennan, Cloie, and Brett remain in Quitman trying to continue to live as normal a life as possible with Kennan going to work, Cloie beginning her Graduate program, and Brett being homeschooled.
While we don’t know exactly how long it will take for Christian’s body to accept the transplant, we know for sure we will have to live there no less than 3 months and have a high probability of living there for a year or maybe even longer. Once we are able to come back home, Christian will need a place to live that is close to us so we can continue to care for him. Because of the need for somewhere for us to live in Houston as well as somewhere for him to live once the transplant is complete, we have decided to sell our home and use the money to purchase an RV, so we will have a home solution both short and long term.
Many have asked how they can help us during this time. It’s hard to admit that we need help, but the truth is that we are desperate for it. We have to purchase the RV, everything to furnish it, pay the $600/month rental space in Houston, pay the medical bills, and then keep life going at home in Quitman, too.
The simple truth is that we will accept help any way it comes, beginning with prayers. We know there is no hope outside of prayer.

Our hope remains in Christ alone. We believe we will see miracles happen again, but we would also be lying if we said we weren’t feeling defeated, scared, mad, and helpless right now.
