Christian is an extraordinary young martial artist who has earned the opportunity to compete at his association’s World Tournament this year alongside his team. Competing with his teammates means everything to him, and what weighs on his heart most is the fear of letting them down. Martial arts is not just a sport for Christian—it is his safe place, his confidence, and one of the few spaces where he feels strong and capable.

Christian is homeschooled and typically relies on ESA funds for extracurricular activities, but ESA does not cover out-of-state travel or lodging. His family is currently facing overwhelming financial hardship and is relying heavily on grandparents for support. His father is in school and was recently laid off, and his mother is battling heart failure while struggling to afford her own medications. Despite her own health challenges, she is doing everything she can to make sure her son doesn’t have to give up the one thing he loves most.

Christian is the kind of child who never asks for anything for himself. He is gentle, thoughtful, and incredibly kind, always making sure his siblings are okay and constantly checking on his mother, even while carrying worries far beyond his years. Christian is autistic, as is his brother. While he may appear high-functioning to others, he faces daily mental and emotional challenges that require strength and resilience most people never see. Martial arts has given him structure, discipline, and a sense of belonging that has helped him grow in ways nothing else has.
