Support Christian & Sarah through their Journey of Recovery
Donation protected
On November 6, 2024, our dear friend, colleague, and loved one, Christian Wandel, was involved in a devastating motorbike accident that left him with catastrophic injuries. Christian severed his spine and sustained abdominal injuries & multiply fractures, after being airlifted to the Princess Alexandria Hospital in Brisbane, he spent three weeks in the ICU undergoing multiple lifesaving surgeries and medical procedures.
Christian’s partner, Sarah, his two sons, Alex and Andreas, Andreas partner Jasmin, his ex-wife, Henrietta & Sarah’s children, supported Christian whilst in the ICU providing unwavering love and support. He is now in the Spinal Unit, His treating team have made it clear that Christian’s Road to recovery will be long and uncertain, with an estimated stay of possibly up to nine months in both the hospital and the Spinal rehabilitation unit.
As anyone who knows Christian and Sarah will attest, they are not people who would ask for help lightly. They have always been the ones offering support to others, never expecting anything in return. But as their family and friends, we know that now is the time to rally behind them and offer the help they so desperately need.
We are raising funds to assist with the mounting medical expenses that will continue in the coming months, However the most pressing is to help Sarah with accommodation and travel costs so that she can be by Christian’s side throughout his recovery. The financial burden of being away from home while also ensuring Christian receives the best possible care is significant, and your support can make all the difference. We are grateful for any contributions, large or small, to help lighten this load for Christian and Sarah during this incredibly challenging time.
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has already offered their support. From the kind words, the groceries, the gift cards, ensuring Nala & Honey (The Cats) are fed and all the gestures of love, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. Your kindness and prayers mean more than words can say, and they are providing much-needed strength to both Christian and Sarah & their families as they navigate this ongoing journey.
Christian and Sarah are incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful network of people standing by them.
For Sarah & Christian’s colleagues, please note that a broadcast request has been submitted to support them with accrued leave hours.
With gratitude,
