So, none of this is easy to talk about and it’s going to be rough to get through. Many of you don’t know that I’ve had anemia for a while now and was vitamin B-12 Deficient. But I have recently been diagnosed with MDS or Myelodisplastic Syndrome which is a rare form of pre leukemia blood cancer.
So uh…that sucks.
Good news is, there is a strong possibility of getting rid of it with chemo and radiation. Since it’s located entirely in my bone marrow, it can be killed off so I would be cancer free. Basically they kill off the bad cells and then I will be given new stem cells from a donor where my body can rebuild. The entire process will include a 3 week hospital stay where Im basically in a plastic bubble after treatment and dealing with that fall out. The really tough part is that I will be in recovery for basically a solid year regrowing an entire new immune system as well. And then probably another year after getting my strength back. So it’s going be a rough year or two.
Fortunately, my insurance is covering most of my medical expenses, so that’s good.
However, I’m not able to work currently because my anemia has gotten to the point where I get dizzy from lack of blood and I have extreme fatigue constantly and have to conserve my energy. And I won’t be able to work through this entire process of this in hospital or after. Craig will be taking care of me full time as well, since after the procedure I’ll be a weak little butterfly for a few months and will need 24/7 care to do literally anything.
This is going to be a long haul battle for a couple years. So if you’re interested in throwing some coin my way at any point during this time, that would be extremely helpful since we’re gonna be struggling for food and bills for a while.
Thank You so much for your support and kindness as I go through this. It’s not gonna be fun. But I have so much love and support during this time that I’m confident in my recovery.
