Support Baby Asher and family,
Last December, my sister Christel and her boyfriend Ryan welcomed my most precious nephew, Asher, into the world. Asher is the sweetest baby I have ever met, always smiling, laughing, and lighting up every room.
Unfortunately, Asher was born with severe urinary tract birth defects which has caused his left kidney to lose most of its function and severe recurring kidney infections. These kidney infections have led to long hospitalizations and conditions no new mom wants to see her baby go through.
After weeks of research and advocating for answers, Christel was able to get in touch with one of the top pediatric urologists in the country, based in Atlanta, Georgia. This surgeon focuses on complex urinary tract reconstruction and believes he can perform one comprehensive surgery to rebuild Asher’s urinary tract instead of multiple separate surgeries in the first 3 years of his life. Christel weighed her options and decided that the best chance at saving Asher's kidneys and providing the best outcome for him would be to go with the team in Atlanta.
My sister is the strongest person I know. She has been by Asher's side through the countless hospitalizations and advocating for the best doctors and treatment for her son, all while trying to go back to school and work two jobs. While local, this was more manageable, however, Asher's kidney infection is very aggressive and back for a third time.
The team in Atlanta, constantly reviewing Asher's case, is requesting Asher be urgently admitted in Atlanta for proper treatment and will follow with the imaging and surgery plans. Due to this, Asher and Christel will be immediately leaving for Atlanta to be admitted and begin the process of surgery which will be a long recovery and will require Christel by his side full time while out of state.
Christel has faced every setback with resilience, determination, and an unwavering love for Asher. She has always wanted what's best for him, fighting for answers, working nonstop, and countless sleepless nights. She deserves so much peace and support after everything she’s done to give Asher the best chance at a healthy life. I want her to feel supported throughout this process so she can continue to do what's best for him.
I am hoping to raise funds to ease the financial burden on my sister and her family, potentially covering out-of-state medical bills, travel and hotel costs, and loss of time at work while mitigating this already stressful time. Any help, whether through donations or simply sharing through social media, would mean the world. Your kindness can help give Asher the best chance to heal and allow Christel to focus entirely on being there for her son during this critical time.
