Support Chris's Recovery from Severe Injury

Donation protected
Hi, I am Chris. I’m a healthy 41-year-old construction worker by trade and a dog dad by night. I have recently had a life-changing incident away from work. I was playing bags in my weekly league and I went to turn around from tossing bags and turned into a verbal argument and then the opposite side opponent came down and tackled me resulting in a broken leg and ankle.

I was rushed to the ER, only to be told I had to have immediate surgery, resulting in rods, pin, and a plate being placed in my leg. My union disability insurance payment doesn’t even cover one of my bills. I have been told by my doctors that I’ll be out of work with a recovery time of 8 months, which puts me in mental and financial trouble.

As I have always been one to do things on my own, I never ask for help or ask for money from anyone, I’m used to being able to come and go as I please, all I ever knew or did was work, work, work. I never turned down any work that was offered to me so I could work myself to being debt-free. Well, that is not happening now. From being one that gets told 'you work too much' to now being one that can’t work. The funds raised will go towards my everyday living expenses as well as my medical bills until doctors orders allow me to go back to work.

I want to give a big thank you and an update to all as I had a recent splint change to all that have helped me out in the short while I have had this post going. I still have a long ways to go before I am back to work, I’m taking it day by day. The 29th of July I have a follow up which consists of removal of stitches hopefully and then changed into a cast or a boot, then short while after that I’ll begin to start applying weight on the leg. I am still in process of getting all my ducks in a row on current bills as well as new and upcoming ones. All the money raised will be going towards my medical and utilities and groceries as my short term disability is only $300+/wk for first 19 wks which is not much especially in today’s world. If anybody has any ideas on helping setup fundraisers or willing to help put flyers of my go fund me as well as continuing to share my post don’t be afraid to reach out to me again I appreciate everything from everyone thank you and god bless.

I wanted to give yet another update on progress. Its Monday afternoon on the 29 and just got back from dr appt and splint removed stitched removed and upgraded to a cast for 5-6 wks then I move on to a boot and pt if the following appt and X-rays go good. Thanks again to everyone that has helped me out alone this journey and you continue to share this post until this is over. Again thank you and god bless.

Im back for another update as I have gotten the cast removed and now upgraded to a walking boot to assist with progress of healing the slight hairline fracture I have and then will have this for few wileeks and start pt and then hopefully go to be able to wear both shoes and put light weight on foot and leg alone
