A Moment of Vulnerability and Hope

On January 1st, I experienced another serious work-related fall involving an entire flight of concrete stairs which has fundamentally changed my future. After three significant workplace accidents over the past four years, directly linked to my progressive health conditions, I'm at a critical turning point I can no longer deny.

My Current Situation

I've made the difficult decision, with urging and support from friends, co-workers, and medical professionals, to pursue disability and have been taken on by legal counsel. While approval is likely, the process could take 6-12 months. My recent fall has resulted in work restrictions, ongoing physical therapy, and additional medical diagnostics, and workers' compensation will not cover my costs of living.

Specific Financial Needs

I'm seeking to raise $3,500 to cover:

*Trip expenses to Michigan

My Path Forward

As some of you know, I have been trying to move to Michigan for the past year and was waiting until I had work lined up and enough money saved. Since my accident, the savings are gone. I have a supportive friend there who will provide safe and hospitable housing during my disability process. However, I can only transport what fits in my car and have minimal possessions to sell. Since the offer to stay with these friends was extended, a stray cat has attached itself to their house and they have taken him in in anticipation of my becoming his new human. After Izzy and Willis passed, I've been on my own, and look forward to the opportunity to belong to a pet again.

As a single, middle-aged woman navigating chronic health challenges, I'm reaching out with hope and humility. Your support isn't just financial - it's a lifeline during an incredibly challenging and emotional transition. I have worked consistently since I was a teenager and while I have been told this was coming for a long time, I don’t feel at peace with it yet. What I feel is insecure and burdensome! I just have to believe that this is the way I get pushed out of my comfort zone and into some kind of unfathomable personal growth…whatever that looks like.
