Support Chris's Journey to Healing and Hope

Donation protected

My name is Lisa and Chris, my 17-year-old son, fell ill on January 7th. Little did we know he would still be sick in October. He has dealt with hospital admissions, many appointments with specialists, and a laundry list of testing. He went from a healthy, high honors student, lifting weights and laughing with friends, working, and volunteering his time, to being ill and not knowing from one moment to the next how he would feel. Chris should be enjoying his senior year and planning for college. Him being ill has taken a huge part of that experience away from him. He spent almost five months in a wheelchair. He now faces some physical impairments and difficulty focusing. He continues with physical therapy. We began to seek holistic treatments and have seen some improvements. However, it's been a rollercoaster of decline and improvement, and back and forth, as financially it's been difficult to keep up with enough consistent care not covered by insurance. We are also limited to what's available in our small community.

Medically, it has taken until mid-October to be told it is believed this is a prion disease with no cure. While this is devastating news, we serve a big God. We believe in miracles. We know healing can happen. God is good! We will not lose hope! Everything has a plan and a purpose for His glory! Thousands of people are praying for Chris to be healed. We believe in miracles and ask for you to please join in prayer!

Our next steps; since we have seen improvements with holistic care, we would like to get one of the machines to use at home. This machine is $5100! It will help Chris to have access to the 8-hour treatments at home during the night as well as the shorter treatments during the day. We will also be going back and forth for holistic care in Green Bay. None of that is covered by the insurance. Chris will also be seen by specialists in Mayo and continue to receive care at UW American Family Children's in Madison (unless told otherwise after Mayo). All of these appointments are at least three or more hours away one way. We are typically overnight at least one night wherever we go by the time appointments are completed for the day. Those that know me, know I struggle to ask others for help. I have not worked this year while taking care of Chris. I'm a single mom with Chris and his younger sister Hannah still at home. While I struggle to ask for help, several people have encouraged me to start this fundraiser while we navigate this journey instead of being stubborn and trying to handle it all. This in itself is a very humbling experience.

If you are unable to donate but can share our page and/or offer up prayers, we would appreciate that very much! If you are able to donate, we thank you for that as well.

We will update this page as we have any new information to share.
