Fourteen days ago, I thought I was just dealing with bad indigestion. For a week, I struggled with sleepless nights and severe water retention, until I finally asked my ex-mother-in-law to take me to the ER. I was quickly admitted to MoBapt’s cardiac care unit and then moved to the ICU, where I am right now. The doctors have had to shock my heart back into rhythm and adjust my medications to see how I respond. I’ve never been in the hospital for anything before, and this experience has turned my world upside down.

Most of you know me as the guy who sells the best over-the-road and vocational trucks—Volvos are my specialty. But when you’re stuck in the Intensive Care Cardiac Unit, it’s impossible to keep business moving as usual. The reality is, I’m facing a temporary but major life change. I’m raising funds to help cover living expenses and the setbacks that come with not being able to work. I still have several days left in the hospital, and after that, I’ll need rehab. The doctors are honest that it’s a “wait and see” situation, so I’m preparing for whatever comes next.
