Support Chris in His Fight Against Cancer
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help our cousin, Chris, during this difficult journey. We are so grateful for your prayers, encouragement, and love.
Chris is only 48 years old and is currently fighting his second battle with rectal cancer. He is receiving aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Duke Cancer Center. While his doctors have given him a very difficult prognosis of 3–6 months, we know that God has the final say. We serve a mighty God who is still in the business of performing miracles, and we will continue to fight alongside Chris until the Lord says otherwise. We trust God’s perfect will, His timing, and His plan, and we will use every treatment and resource available while placing our faith in the Ultimate Physician.
Thankfully, Chris does not have overwhelming medical bills, but the financial burden of this journey is still significant. The costs of traveling to and from Duke for treatments, meals, medications, and everyday necessities continue to add up. Chris has been disabled since his first battle with cancer and lives on a fixed income. He has never been married, has no children, and has no one else to help shoulder these ongoing expenses other than few family members that tries to do what they can.
Like so many, Chris never imagined facing this at such a young age. He still has so much he wants to do and so much life he wants to live. Because this diagnosis came so unexpectedly, he has not had the opportunity to prepare financially and does not have life insurance or savings to cover the unexpected expenses that may arise.
Anyone who knows Chris knows he has never been someone to ask for help. In fact, one of his greatest concerns is making sure he doesn’t become a burden to anyone else. Even in the middle of his own battle, he worries more about others than himself.
If God places it on your heart to help, any donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward Chris’s travel expenses, daily necessities, and helping ease the financial burden during this fight. If funds remain after his treatment journey, they will be used to honor Chris’s wishes and help with final expenses so that those he loves are not left carrying that burden.
If you are unable to give financially, we completely understand. Your prayers are just as important to us. Please continue praying for healing, strength, peace, and comfort for Chris, and for wisdom for his medical team.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, every share, every kind word, and every act of generosity. We are trusting God every step of the way and believing that no matter what lies ahead, He is faithful.
“With God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26
