For the past 14 years my dear friend and business partner, Chris, have built a business and community together at C4 CrossFit. Last month he received the devastating news after been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer that has endangered his ability to do what he loves, being a part of his CrossFit community. This news has shaken all of us who know and love him.
Chris has always been the kind of person who shows up—for his family, his team, and anyone in need. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
The journey ahead will be tough. Chris is facing immediate and ongoing medical treatments, that include surgery, therapy, rehabilitation, chemo and radiation treatments. The costs are already mounting, and we’re asking for your help to ease the financial burden so Chris and his family can focus on healing and hope.
Every dollar, every share, and every kind word makes a difference. If you’ve ever worked with Chris, trained with him, or crossed paths with him, you know how much he’s given to others. Let’s come together to give back.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Love you all,
Aida
This is Chris's story and how it all started...
“You have a large mass in the right side of your brain which is causing the weakness on the left side of your body.”
“Is it fluid filled, or do you know what it is?”
“It is a solid mass. I’ve called an ambulance to take you to Memorial Hermann in the medical center.”
This was the initial conversation at Oak Bend Hospital in the emergency room on Friday morning, May 30, 2025. This tumor seemed to come out of nowhere. Monday of that week, I coached and participated in the Murph WOD honoring veterans on Memorial Day at C4 CrossFit. I woke up Friday morning of that same week, I was completely immobilized and had to be carried to the car. My wife and I arrived at Oak Bend around 10:00 am expecting to hear that I had some type of spine issue, but that wasn’t the case at all. We were in shock but still had high hopes the mass would be a benign tumor. After CT scans and MRIs, I was diagnosed with what looked to be a glioblastoma. The doctors were 90 % certain, so again, we held out hope and prayed that the biopsy would show something less aggressive. Unfortunately, after surgery and biopsy the tumor was confirmed to be a grade 4 glioblastoma. I'm in need of radiation therapy which is not covered by my insurance. It is crucial for me to begin therapy as soon as possible as we know the tumor will return. My treatment will be one round of radiation and chemo simultaneously for six weeks. Then, six cycles of chemo after a four-week rest period. The radiation therapy will cost a minimum of $50,000. Any donations would be incredibly helpful. We understand times are tough for all in this economy but anything you can give would be greatly appreciated!
