It is with great sorrow that I have to update you all to let you know that my dad, Chris, has passed away. He fought a great fight and is now reunited with our mom. He will be missed deeply.

This GoFundMe is in honor of my dad, Chris. As most of you know, my dad has been dealing with some health issues since March. After a scare with his heart, he was on the mend and then was blindsided with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. He did not qualify to apply for disability through his work and has not had an income in many months.

In March, my dad had a small heart attack and suffered severe complications, taking him out of work for a month. As he was preparing to return to work, he experienced some unstable blood sugar issues, keeping him out for a little longer than expected. Eventually, he became extremely jaundiced and we convinced him to go to the ER. After a brief triage, he was admitted for a lengthy hospital stay. He has been out on FMLA since the diagnosis.

While he is in very capable hands at LMC with Dr. Wells, pancreatic cancer is an extremely aggressive and deadly disease. It spreads quickly and must be treated just as aggressively as it spreads. Within a few weeks, a few cancer spots have been found on his liver. He has been hospitalized again since his initial diagnosis and had to have surgery twice.

He has started chemotherapy in two-week cycles. His first round of treatment should end just after Christmas. Following that, he will be evaluated to see if surgery can remove the main mass. After that, there will be surgery followed by another round of chemo. There’s a strong possibility he’ll also need to undergo radiation therapy, especially if the chemo alone doesn’t shrink the tumor enough to make it operable.

Throughout this entire journey, my dad has been supported by myself, my sister, our partners, his friends, and family. Since his diagnosis, he has accumulated medical expenses and general life expenses. Even with my sister moving in with him this month, the debt that is building is staggering. Since his diagnosis, our family has been doing everything we can to maintain some sense of normalcy. All of these things have begun to take a serious toll on our finances as well.

At this point, the financial burden has become overwhelming for our family. We simply can’t do this alone anymore. So, with our pride set aside, we are asking for help. If you are in a position to help someone today, please consider letting that someone be my dad. After our mom passed away, we can’t imagine a world without him in it and if you know him, chances are you feel the same way we do. There are so many concerts left to experience, FSU games to attend, and vinyl records left to spin. Please help us keep our daddy here, afloat, and back to normal.
