Friends, family, and loved ones,
We’ve recently received some tough news—Chris has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, hopefully a low-grade glioma in his left temporal lobe. While surgery is scheduled for 2/12 at Georgetown Hospital, and there’s still more to learn about the tumor after surgery, we’re staying optimistic and focusing on the best-case scenarios that will get us many more years of Chris with constant monitoring and treatment.
As Chris put it, “This isn’t a kill-you-in-a-year situation, which is great news,” but a very low bar. But this journey will come with challenges, including medical expenses not covered by insurance, lost work time, travel expenses for Sid, and other support for day-to-day recovery such as meals, new video games, and comfy clothes to wear around while recovering.
We’ve set up a GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial strain and make it possible for Chris and Kylie to focus on their health and family during this time. Additionally, for those who’d prefer, we’ve set up a way to contribute directly to the kids' 529 educational fund, which offers tax benefits for donors.
