Chris is a Reno, Nevada native who gave his life to our community through years of service. He served first with Truckee Meadows Fire Department and then with Reno Fire Department, where he worked until retiring in 2017. He also spent about 20 years serving underserved children through Pathfinders.
We are raising funds for Chris Taylor, who went through a bone marrow transplant in January for a career-associated condition that progresses into AML, a bone cancer that would have taken his life without treatment. Chris is now back in the hospital with a serious complication called Nocarditis. He is in the hospital with a tracheostomy and is fighting for his life as he is still immunocompromised from the transplant. Our family is facing a long and difficult road, and we are asking for help as he continues this battle.
Chris has been hospitalized since September 24, and his doctors have told us it will be at least two more months before he can return to Reno. We have also been told that his recovery from Nocarditis could require up to a year of antibiotics. This is not a short-term situation, and the financial strain is continuing alongside everything else our family is carrying.
The funds raised will help with Chris’s medical bills and with hotel stays in Sacramento for my mom, Nita, so she can stay close to him while he is in the hospital. Prayers for recovery are appreciated first and foremost, and if you feel led to give, any amount big or small would be greatly appreciated. Chris and Nita have been through so much, and the road ahead to recovery is long.
If you are able to give or share this fundraiser, it would mean so much to our family. Thank you for supporting Chris and helping my mom stay near him during this incredibly hard time.
