We are neighbors and friends of the Young family, coming together to organize this fundraiser on their behalf, and with Sarah’s permission. If you know Sarah and Chris, you know just how amazing they are. Right now, they need all of us.

On December 7th, Sarah rushed Chris to the ER. Shortly after they arrived, Chris went into respiratory distress and had to be intubated. A CT scan revealed a large brain tumor. Chris was then life-flighted to a hospital in Salt Lake County with the specialists and resources necessary to save his life.

Sarah used to work as a neuro ICU nurse before becoming a stay-at-home-mom to their two young daughters. She is now living her worst fear, watching her husband go through what she has witnessed patients experience.

Chris is currently in the ICU. His medical team is monitoring him around the clock as we pray for a miracle. He has already undergone one emergency surgery to reduce swelling in his brain and is expected to need at least one more surgery soon to remove the tumor. Until doctors can remove it and determine exactly what they’re dealing with, the path forward remains uncertain—both medically and financially.

There is no clear timeline for when Chris will be able to leave the hospital. What we do know is that the road ahead will be long and incredibly difficult for Chris, for his sweet wife Sarah, and for their two beautiful young daughters. Chris will likely be unable to work for a significant amount of time, and long-term disability is a very real possibility. Sarah will be caring for Chris, for their girls, and holding their home together in the midst of overwhelming unknowns—while medical bills continue to grow.

If ever there were a moment when a family needed the strength of a community behind them, it is this one. Any amount you can give—big or small—will make a meaningful difference for the Youngs as they face hospital stays, surgeries, recovery, lost income, and the long-term needs that will come as they navigate a new reality.
