As many of you know, my father, Chris Russom, is an extremely hard worker. He owns a small mechanic shop and works long hours to make it successful and provide for us. However, as some of you know, he has recently started dealing with severe health issues. Over 3 months ago, his back started bothering him extensively and interfering with his daily life. He was no longer able to work or even walk without a cane. It has now escalated to the point where at times he is unable to walk at all. The nerves in one of his legs are severely damaged, making his right leg very weak. He is in constant and severe pain due to multiple herniated and bulging disks in his back. He has had two previous decompression surgeries on his back and now requires a fusion to fix his pain.
We need to have this surgery so I can have my dad back. He is unable to do any of his normal things, including working on cars, which is his favorite thing. My mom is also unable to do many things because my father requires constant care. When his pain hits its peak, he is unable to walk without assistance. We have jumped through countless hoops with insurance: MRIs, X-rays, physical therapy, countless doctor visits, and so much more. His surgery continues to be denied; insurance does not like to pay for spine surgeries. We are praying and believing in God at the moment; we know He has a plan.
A large financial strain has been placed on my parents due to the business being our only source of income and my dad not being able to work. We were hoping to not have to do this, but we really need some help from our community. When this surgery gets approved, there is still an $8,000 copay. Please do not feel obligated to donate, but we appreciate any help you are able to give more than you will ever know. We are so grateful for the wonderful community we have the privilege to live in.
