Support Chris Negrete's Battle with Myositis

Hi everyone,

I'm starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my close friend, Chris Negrete, a 49-year-old husband and father who is now courageously fighting Myositis—a rare and painful autoimmune disease that causes severe muscle weakness and inflammation.

Chris’s health began to change suddenly in mid-December when he felt weakness in his arms. Within weeks, it spread to his legs. After an initial hospital stay and a misdiagnosis, his rheumatologist finally diagnosed him with Myositis, a serious condition that affects daily life in big ways.

He has started IVIG treatment therapy, which is the most common and effective treatment for this disorder. He must receive 5-hour sessions over two consecutive days every month. Even with insurance, the costs are significant and ongoing.

Everyday life has become extremely difficult. Chris can’t raise his arms over his shoulders or lift his young children. His wife now helps him with basic things like putting on shoes, shaving, and even lifting a water bottle. These once-simple tasks are now overwhelming.

Chris has always been full of energy and drive. While he’s fortunate to have an office job that doesn’t require physical labor, the emotional toll has been heavy. He often breaks down feeling helpless, but stays strong for his wife and kids.

His wife is a stay-at-home mom, and Chris is the sole provider for their family. This diagnosis has added emotional and financial stress, and they need support now more than ever.
