Hey guys, my name is Chris Gomez. I am a disabled nurse on hospice after a six bypass heart surgery in Dec 2023 left me crippled with severe neuropathy. I have some health equipment needs that I cannot otherwise afford.
I can no longer grip objects very well, I can barely walk and get around, I can barely use my hands and my legs. I was blessed enough to be donated a scooter for mobility, this will allow me to do things and go places I could never go without it. It is a real life changer, but I have no way to transport it. Currently I cannot take it anywhere for use.
I need a hitch put on our vehicle to carry an electric scooter lift on the back. I need the lift and a bolt on hitch kit for my 2026 Kia Soul. I have found these items online and I'm including screenshots as to what they are. The lift is $1150 and the bolt on hitch is $200. I also have various equipment needs such as ramps for my back door on the back porch and to our storage shed. Other items such as grab bars throughout the house, a higher toilet seat in the bathroom and accessories, such as nonslip pads in the shower.
To accomplish this my wife and I need your help. My wife works full-time and I get a disability check, but we are stretched thin. It is with great embarrassment that I have started this go fund me with my wife as I have never gone online and asked for money. Asking for help is very difficult for me, despite my physical condition of not being able to do many things that I used to do. The hardest thing about becoming a cripple is coping mentally with what is going on. I never thought life would turn out this way. I never dreamed I'd be in this position. But here I am. So I am reaching out to you with all of my heart and soul.
