Help Chris Fight Cancer and Rebuild
Donation protected
No one should have to endure even one of these tragedies—yet my dear friend, Chris Miller, has faced them all.
On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian destroyed everything she owned. She worked tirelessly to rebuild, but in late 2023, she lost her job due to company downsizing. Since then, she has been searching for work, taking on small gigs while living off her savings and being a single mother to a neurodivergent teen.
Then, in September 2024, Hurricane Helene and then Milton struck weeks apart bringing a massive storm surge that flooded her home. Once again, Chris lost everything. Her landlord decided not to repair the damage, leaving her without a place to live.
As if that wasn’t enough, right after the storm, Chris had an emergency appendectomy then received devastating news—she has breast cancer and she had to have a double mastectomy.
Living out of hotels, Chris had to travel to Tampa for surgery, only to learn that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. She now faces months of chemo and radiation, plus massive medical debt. With no family, spouse, or local support system, and no job prospects, Chris has made the difficult decision to move her and her son back to San Francisco, where she spent most of her adult life.
There, she will have one month of free housing and a better chance of finding work once she is well enough. She will also be able to continue her cancer treatment and get the lifesaving care she needs.
Chris has lost everything—twice. She has used up all her savings and is now facing months of treatment before she can work again.
Please help Chris get back on her feet. Every donation, big or small, will help cover:
- Travel expenses to relocate to San Francisco
- Temporary housing while she gets settled
- Medical expenses and basic living costs for herself and her son during chemo and radiation
If you can’t contribute financially, please share this fundraiser—it would mean the world to Chris, her son and to me.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
