My name is Angel and this is my daughter MiKayla, her husband Chris, and their daughter Adalynn. On July 30th, MiKayla had to take Chris to the ER because he was having severe abdominal pain. He was diagnosed with diverticulitis that caused a perforation and two abscesses in his colon. Chris's white blood cell count has hovered between 16-21. He's been on antibiotics to fight the infection, but it hasn't done much good. He had a procedure where a drain was placed in the large abscess, but it's not draining. He is scheduled for surgery Wednesday, August 13th to repair his colon. Chris has been in the hospital since July 30th, and MiKayla hasn't left his side. They're looking at another week after this surgery and weeks of at-home recovery. Chris will have a colostomy bag for 6 months to a year before another surgery to reverse the colostomy. They both work full-time and have a 7-year-old daughter to care for. However, being out of work means no money coming in. Chris is trying to get short-term disability, but the hospital can't submit the paperwork until he's discharged from the hospital, and then he's looking at a long wait for approval. They desperately need a little financial help to cover their finances and the impending medical bills that insurance doesn't cover. If you could help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.
