Chris Maxwell is a loving husband to Molly (Weisgram) and father to Ben (9), Samuel (6), Issac (4), and Hannah (1). He is the owner of Maxwell Strategies and an active participant in the Pierre / Ft. Pierre (South Dakota) communities. Anyone who knows Chris knows his passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to his family, friends, and community. If an obstacle stands in his way, he finds a solution—no matter how great the challenge. Let’s show that same passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to Chris, Molly, and their entire family.
Chris has been hospitalized since mid-February. He spent 6 weeks at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls and then was transferred to the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE. There he has been retraining his body to do everything from blink his eyes to walk his feet. Chris is currently battling Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder that occurs randomly, typically in reaction to a common virus. It causes progressive paralysis and affects his nerves. Most people make a full recovery from GBS. Due to Chris’s severe case, though, this has been a long and difficult journey. While his body is being temporarily affected by this disease, his mind remains sharp and fully intact. During his battle, Chris spelled out the following message on his letterboard, letter by letter, "Success starts with patience, persistence, positive proactive action, passion, purpose, planning, process, and knowing that your perfection will come in imperfect ways at imperfect times."
Any funds donated will assist this amazing family with medical, health & travel expenses during this upcoming journey. We thank you in advance for considering a donation to support Chris, Molly, Ben, Sam, Isaac, and Hannah during this difficult time. Thank you to Judy Weisgram, Molly's mom for helping manage this account so Molly's attention can remain focused on the kids and helping Chris during his recovery.
