Hello, my name is Chris Marsh. I am 45 years old and on Thursday, Nov 13th, was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with severe Ulcerative Colitis and was in what they call a flare. I was unaware I had this disease until I wasn't. The GI specialist said it was one of the worst cases of inflammation she has seen. They started me on IV steroids and pain meds and were hoping that would do the job. Unfortunately, after a couple of days of the steroids working, they stopped working and the inflammation was back. My next two options were to do an infusion, and if that didn't work, then remove my colon and get a colostomy bag. I had my first infusion on Tuesday, Nov 18th, and it seems to be working. After a week of being admitted into the hospital, I will get to go home but need to continue outpatient procedures. I will need to get two more infusions and then can start injections at home after that and will be on medication for the rest of my life. This unexpected health issue has put me out of work for the last three weeks and I still don't know when I can return to work. Sadly, I don't have health insurance and even being self-pay, there is no way I can afford the infusions as I was told one infusion itself is $30k and I'm looking at least three more infusions just to hopefully get me into remission. I don't ask for help and don't like asking for help but don't see any other option. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. Thank you from my family and me.
