If you know Mesa Business Machines, you know how hard Chris works. He has dedicated many years to his job there, and outside of work, he is also the behind-the-scenes force that helps make his wife Marla’s photography business, Just Shoot Me, successful. Marla has the creative eye behind the camera, and Chris helps make everything happen behind the scenes. He also helps care for his 95-year-old mother. Together, they’ve built a comfortable life through hard work and dedication.
This year has brought unimaginable challenges for their family.
In late February, their oldest son was diagnosed with cancer and is currently in Houston receiving treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Their family has already been carrying the emotional toll that comes with supporting him through his fight.
Now, Chris has received the devastating news that he also has cancer.
At this time, they are still in the early stages of determining what type of cancer he has and what treatment options are available. What started as shoulder and back pain quickly turned into a nightmare no one could have prepared for. Doctors have found a mass in his left chest that is working its way around his heart and wrapping around his cervical spine. He has also lost the use of his left hand because of the mass.
Earlier this year, Chris and Marla could only afford health insurance for one of them. Because Marla has battled meningitis twice in the past and faced significant medical bills from previous hospital stays, they made the difficult decision to insure her.
Since Chris’s diagnosis, they have already had to pay out of pocket for:
• An MRI
• Three CT scans (with and without contrast)
• Follow-up doctor appointments
And this is only the beginning.
Chris’s biggest concern right now is making sure Marla isn’t left carrying overwhelming medical debt while also navigating the emotional toll of fighting alongside both her husband and her son.
Asking for help is not easy for them, but right now they need the support of those who love them.
If you’re able to donate, no amount is too small, and every contribution will help ease the financial burden of medical expenses, travel costs, and treatment-related needs. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping their family in your prayers.
We will continue to share updates as we learn more about Chris’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
