Hi, my name is Tori Low. I am Chris and Bonnie's daughter in law, married to their oldest son Tyler.
A little background on how we got here. On September 15, 2023 Chris was taken to the ER with a severe fever and high blood pressure. The next few days can only be recalled as a blur. He had meningitis and encephalitis caused by West Nile Virus. From there it has been the bumpiest road we've ever ridden. Chris was ventilated, as he was having trouble breathing on his own. He was in the ICU at Mercy Medical Center in Redding for 5 and a half weeks. On October 23rd he was then flown to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to their Respiratory Rehab Unit, where he still is today.
His wife, Bonnie has been there with him EVERYDAY throughout all of this. Her willingness and patience to learn any/all information to help support and rehab Chris through this has been the purest example of love I've ever witnessed. She has never stopped being his nurse and defender.
Chris retired early last year after working for the same company in heavy construction for 17 years and Bonnie has not yet been able to return to work do to Chris's health. Chris will be coming home later this month, he will be in a wheelchair and on a ventilator. With these major changes we (Tyler, Connor, Devin, and I) are making major updates to their home. Remodeling a bathroom that accommodates a wheelchair as well as railing and ramps into and out of the house along with other necessary medical equipment. Also, as of today February 9, 2024 marks 147 days in hospital care. The bills are coming and the amounts are climbing.
We, their children, are asking for your help. We are very grateful to have your support and we hope this can help alleviate some financial stress.
