Our fellow greyhound enthusiasts, Chris Kronick and her partner David Nevius, were in a terrible hit and run accident on Sat June 28th. They were turning into their driveway when they were hit from behind by a driver trying to pass them. Their car was slammed into a tree, causing both of them to be injured. However, Chris sustained the worst of the injuries with a broken sternum and partially severed finger. She was taken to Grady Hospital where she was stabilized and underwent surgery on her hand to repair the damage. As of this posting, she is still at Grady while her doctors get her oxygen and pain levels under control. She has a long road ahead of her, particularly with the broken sternum and the pain it causes.
Chris and David have been wonderful club members over the years, and I wanted to set up a way that people could help out if they so desired. The fact that her car was totaled, her injuries severe, and that they still haven't found the driver responsible for this accident, all add up to many challenging days ahead. Hopefully, we can show her that people are thinking of her and hoping she's quickly back on her feet!
