Support Chris Rothwell’s Healing & Recovery

Hi, my name is Sheree and my ex-brother-in-law, is dealing with cancer. Despite his marriage ending with my sister, he has always been a brother to me. He was diagnosed a year and half ago and had his prostate removed. He now needs 33 treatments of radiation in Victoria for every day of the week over the next 6 weeks. To reach Victoria from his home, he needs a full day of travel by ferry to take him back and forth each day.

Chris is someone who wouldn't complain about the travel or share what he is going through, but would always have a smile for you and do what is necessary. I have close friends who have gone through radiation and know how difficult it is as you are extra-tired, can't work or earn a living, are running through your savings and generally do not have any idea if you will be feeling well from one day to the next. The biggest challenge is being able to focus on staying well and healing.

I want to help by paying it forward and giving back to Chris what he has always given me for the past 41 years. He has always been there for me. I will never forget how he said, "I'll be there" when I didn't have someone to pick me up when I was stranded in a snowstorm without proper boots or coat. Despite the conditions and the 2-hr distance, he drove. When I had to leave a 17-year relationship and my home unexpectedly, he said, "I'll be there" and told me to stay as long as needed. Despite all that he had going on in his life, he drove to come to get me. There are more stories -- but I know you understand what I am saying.
