Support Chris Greenleaf's Wood Shop Recovery
Donation protected
From my husband:
"HI. For those who don't know me, my name is Chris, I'm a United States Veteran, I served in the USAF and was injured (back) leaving me unable to work a full time job and at times unable to walk at all. I do woodworking to keep myself busy and sometimes make a little money to help make ends meet.
These storms destroyed the little wood working area, tools and materials that I had & damaged my home. I would like to offer help repairing homes in the neighborhood that were damaged by storms, as well as kids outdoor things like swingsets and sandboxes, but until I have a woodshed up and going I can't. This is where you come in... Any little bit counts!
Everyone who donates will get their name on a plaque as a contributer towards all things I am able to do and donate to my community! Also, a receipt from me for you to claim the donation on your taxes if you want!
Thank you in advance!
Please share!"
I am a disabled veteran. I build wood items to keep busy, a hobby that has exploded into something great. Last night in Casey, Illinois, where we are from, we had an extremely bad storm that destroyed my wood shop with all my equipment. As well as a mobility scooter that was left to me by my aunt when she passed away. Also, the grandchildren's bicycles were crushed under the weight of one of my roll tables falling over on them. Also, two electric tricycles were destroyed, as well as wooden patterns over 100 years old that were my wife's grandfather's.
This money will be used to rebuild a proper wood shop and restock with tools. I've already secured some funding to get started and will update periodically.
I estimate it will cost approximately $7,000 to put up a building, and the rest will be used to replace my power tools.
This is a devastating experience for myself and my family. I don't like asking for help, but I am asking because I don't see any other options.
You can see updates and some of our work on our Facebook page "Claire's Handmade Crafts and Woodworking" (be sure to hit the like button).
