Chris Goggan’s Freak Accident
On January 17, 2025, Chris was in Alleghany National Forest with 7 of his good friends on their annual “Winter Campout.” While sitting around their campfire that evening, an enormous boulder dislodged from the rock wall their fire was next to, crushing him. His heroic friends managed to lift the boulder and free him. Rescue was called after great effort to obtain a cell signal. After 3 hours in 20 degrees with unknown injuries, Chris was finally in the hands of medical professionals. His injuries consist of seven broken bones from his knees down. He’s had 3 surgeries to fix his injuries and is looking at 6+ months for recovery. He worked full-time as a glass artist for Toro for the past 20 years.
Residing outside of Ithaca, NY, Chris has two college-aged children and a wife of 22 years. Chris will be unable to work and support his family for the foreseeable future.
Goggan, as most of his friends call him, is a lover of the outdoors. He’s a sports “nut” and is a faithful fan of the Buffalo Sabres, New York Giants, and the New York Yankees. A music lover as well, he has been following his beloved Phish for 30+ years. He is involved with his community, serving on the town’s Little League Board that his son used to play with. He’s coached youth baseball and soccer in the past and is just an all-around good guy, eager to lend a hand when someone needs it.
Donations to his cause will help maintain his family’s needs and pay a mountain of medical bills the family will incur. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
