On September 13th our dear friend Chris suffered a serious cardiac episode and was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Jennings via ambulance. Doctors discovered that Chris had suffered an aortic dissection, and he was transferred via ambulance to IU Health Methodist for an immediate life-saving surgery. Chris underwent surgery that night and his doctors placed 5 stents to treat the dissection and repair the damage it had caused. Chris spent the next 5 days in ICU as his doctors continued to monitor him. The dissection had caused damage to the blood flow to his right leg, and it was determined that he would require another surgery to address that damage. On September 20th Chris underwent a second surgery where his doctors placed several stents in his right leg to restore the blood flow. Thanks to an abundance of prayer and the amazing team of doctors and nurses that cared for Chris, he was able to go home Saturday evening.
Unfortunately, a few days before this medical emergency happened, Chris unexpectedly lost his job which meant that he also lost his health insurance. While we are all too familiar with the financial burden that unexpected medical treatment causes, knowing that his treatment included two major surgeries and an extended ICU stay, it is likely that they will have significant medical bills.
Chris and Kresta have an extremely strong faith, and they know that God will provide a new job opportunity for Chris but right now their focus needs to be on Chris’ recovery. The outpouring of love and support they have received has been one of the most heartwarming experiences one never hopes to have to receive. So many have asked how to help and support the Richards family. We have set up this fund to support them and ease some of the financial burden. Funds will be used for out-of-pocket medical expenses and any other needs caused by these recent events.
If you are not able to donate, please continue to keep Chris, Kresta, and their family in your prayers.
