My name is Chris, and until recently, I was a psychology instructor at a local community college. I have always been passionate about teaching and encouraging open, honest discussions in my classroom. Unfortunately, my commitment to academic freedom has put me in a difficult position. I was terminated from my job after a student secretly recorded me making critical comments about Turning Point USA. I believe that my First Amendment rights were violated, as I was trying to bring awareness to my students about a new policy at UNC Chapel-Hill that allows for secret recording of faculty by administration. This experience has been both shocking and deeply unsettling, not only for me but for my family as well.

Now, I am facing the daunting challenge of seeking justice and protecting my rights. I need funds to secure legal representation and to support my family while I fight this injustice and work to find new employment. The sudden loss of income has put us in a vulnerable position, and the legal process ahead is both complex and costly. Your support will help me stand up for freedom of speech and academic freedom, not just for myself, but for educators everywhere who believe in the importance of open dialogue and critical thinking.
