Support Chris Barnes' Rehabilitation Journey

My name is Chris Barnes, a 71-year-old single senior living alone in Carlsbad, California. I worked in construction my adult life and continued to work until suffering a stroke on 8.18.22. Financially, I was not ready for retirement, and I enjoyed my work. Known as a master in my industry, my small company has a great reputation and clients still call wanting to provide clients.

My right side is damaged from the stroke and rehabilitation is very slow. A medical procedure where a Vivistim vagus nerve stimulator can be installed in my neck and improve my progress up to three times as fast. After 10 months of fighting my insurance company, it was approved, and the operation is scheduled for September 2024. My rehabilitation is not covered by Medicare and the cost is out of pocket.

The cost will be $500.00 per week, and I lack the funds to afford it. Not having the ability to work and living on social security has left me in a grave situation. It has been estimated to require 12 weeks for maximum recovery, and I plan on vigorously putting in the effort to be a complete person as I was prior to the stroke.

I have always maintained a strong balance in life. Paid attention to education, exercise, diet, work ethic, honesty, and raising two fantastic daughters. I am now alone, vigilant, happy, strong-minded, and need your help to recover physically and return to being a successful participant in society. Bottom line, I need help.
