UPDATE: On Friday Chris underwent his first skin graft surgery lasting almost 7 hours. The surgeon was able to use skin from Chris's thigh and graft it to the top of both of his hands. Also around the thumb and pointer finger on the left hand. Doctors also did a debridement on his face and removed all the damaged tissue. Doctors are hopeful that this could be the only surgery if the skin heals well enough. Chris remains at Detroit Receiving. The family is grateful for the support and prayersOn Sunday, February 2nd, Chris Richards “Banks” was in an accident at his home when the shed he was working in exploded. He suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his hands and 1st and 2nd degree burns on his face and neck. Doctors believe he will be in the hospital for up to two months and will require multiple skin graft surgeries on both hands. He will be unable to work for quite some time. Banks was the sole provider for 4 children- Codyn 13, Genesis 4, Lux 4 and Londyn 2 as his partner Natalie is in school to become a pharmacy technician. A new baby is on the way and due in June. He currently is at Detroit Receiving Hospital. If you can make a donation and/or share this message the family would be very grateful.
