Hello, my name is Jesse Nelson and I'm fundraising for my friend Chris Truscott-Brown.
I've had the pleasure of knowing Chris and his wife Jamie for over a decade, and in that time have been through a lot with them. They are incredible supportive friends and have been essential in the fundraising efforts for BC CHildren's Hospital we've done for over 12 years, totalling more than $100,000.
Now it's time to share the help.
Chris and Jamie have been struggling the past few years with job security, home insecurity and health issues. The job market has not been kind to them and they had been forced to move out of their home and into a hotel, where they have been for some time.
Since then, Jamie continued to suffer from progressing health concerns and forcing Chris largely to be the sole earner. Just as it seemed they were getting a leg up as Chris found a more stable job, life found another way to be cruel.
Chris' work has reach the slow season, and he has been temporarily laid off until it picks back up. But that isn't even the most brutal part.
Last week, Jamie passed away suddenly from further health complications, leaving Chris to fight these still very present struggles alone with not a lot of resources to pull. Apologies if this is how you are finding out, it is still very fresh and the family and friends are still reaching out to people as we think of them.
Now Chris is again at risk of losing a home.
We are asking for people to donate to raise funds to help Chris find a more stable living situation, help with his own health struggles, ability to weather the lay off period, healthy meals, and the all the many costs one faces as they put their wife to rest.
Chris has been a champion of community support for over a decade, and he now deserves the same support back.
Please donate what you can, and if you cannot please share the word as far as you can. We thank you in advance of whatever help can be given.
