I’m Chloe Shapiro from San Antonio Texas. I’m a veteran of United States Texas Army National Guard. I served faithfully and honorably for 12 years, 7.5 years of active duty national guard and 4.5 regular National Guard. On February 1, 2026 I was discharged due to EO 14183 for being trans. I was given the choice to voluntarily separate or involuntarily separate and the option for me was voluntary to separate so I could know for certain to keep all my benefits and double pay. I was planning to move to Seattle June 2026. Except I have hit a hiccup on that move. I was supposed to get a voluntary separation payment of close to 87,000 dollars due to self admitting I was trans. As out outlined in both SEC Army memo and DD-214 Right now due the National Guard Bureau being the way it is, it’s taking anywhere from 5-12 months to get that payment for service members, and my paperwork has been submitted April 7th 2026. A little over 60 days after I got out, but when I called to get a new status update on my payment I’m being told that I’m being denied the payment due issues from my unit. Currently I need resources and relocation help to move to Seattle, because I might either stuck in Texas or moving back to my home state Florida which neither those states are good for my physical or mental health and wellbeing.
-Thank you
Chloe Shapiro
