Dear family and friends,
I want to share some important news about one of our dear friends and coworkers, Manny Valdivia, at West Covina High School (WCHS). Manny is currently facing a significant hardship as his daughter, Chloe, has been diagnosed with cancer. Chloe was diagnosed three years ago at the age of 12. During her treatment, she developed heart failure and underwent a heart transplant in December 2021. While she was initially doing well, this past January, Chloe began experiencing severe pain in her lower abdomen. After further examination, doctors discovered two cancerous tumors in her lower abdomen and multiple lesions on her kidneys, liver, and legs. This form of cancer is quite rare. Chloe is now undergoing her first round of chemotherapy at UCLA Children’s Hospital. Manny has been dedicated to caring for her, traveling directly from work to the hospital and taking days off as needed. Unfortunately, Manny is running low on sick days, which means any further time he takes off will impact his paycheck. This situation makes it increasingly difficult for him to be by Chloe's side during her upcoming treatments. Any support you can provide to Manny and Chloe during this challenging time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness.
