Help Chloe Beat Cancer
Hi, I’m Joline, and I’m raising funds to help my sweet soul cat, Chloe, get through her chemotherapy treatments and back to feeling like herself again.
Any donation, big or small, will go directly toward her care and could give us more precious time together.
Chloe’s Story
Chloe came into my life 11 years ago, when she was 4 years old. Her previous owner had passed away, and she’d spent months bouncing around a few potential homes, scared and hiding from other animals.
She traveled all the way from Port Hardy to find her way to me, and I promised her I’d take care of her for the rest of her life.
She’s been the love of my life ever since. She was my comfort when I got sober, my companion through the pandemic, and my daily source of joy. She's a magical, floofy, perfect being that I've been privileged to love and protect.
The Diagnosis
In late August, Chloe started vomiting frequently. After several blood tests and food trials, an ultrasound in mid-September revealed that she has lymphoma in her stomach.
At first, I was told my only options were either intensive chemotherapy (requiring weekly, all-day hospital treatments and costing over $10,000), or palliative care to keep her comfortable for what time she had left, which may have been a few short weeks.
I was absolutely heartbroken. I couldn’t afford the first option, nor would I want to put her through that such intensive treatment. And yet I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her so soon.
Then, her vet connected with an oncologist and found a middle option: a gentler chemotherapy plan involving shorter visits every few weeks and oral medications I can give her at home. It’s still expensive, but it gives her a real chance at remission and quality time.
Miraculously, I was able to get a consultation with the oncologist one week after her diagnosis. Usually it can take 3-4 months for an appointment, but this doctor is new to the city and was taking new patients. Chloe had her first dose of chemotherapy on Sept. 23rd. Her second treatment was a week later, and from now on they will be every 3 weeks.
How She’s Doing Now
After two treatments, Chloe is already showing signs of improvement. She’s eating again, exploring her favorite spots, and back to being my little shadow. She's jumping in the laundry basket wanting an "airplane ride," sitting outside on the porch with me, and even playing with her toys. Seeing her comfortable and playful again fills me with so much hope.
What the Funds Will Cover
So far, I’ve spent over $3,000 on bloodwork, ultrasounds, and other tests just to get a diagnosis and clear her to be able to start chemotherapy.
The next phase will include:
$5,000 for 6 months of chemotherapy
$1,800 for follow-up ultrasounds
Up to $1,200 for supportive medications
I’m committed to doing eveything I can to see her through this. I'm cutting expenses, selling what I can, and taking on extra work. But I could really use some help covering these costs so I can focus on caring for Chloe and keeping her comfortable.
Why I’m Asking for Help
For years, I’ve saved for Chloe’s vet care and managed her early kidney disease through diet and regular bloodwork for monitoring. It's been an honour to be able to care for her in this way, but this cancer diagnosis is beyond what I had planned or saved for.
Friends encouraged me to create this campaign, and I’m deeply grateful for any help you feel moved to give. Even sharing this page makes a difference.
From My Heart
Chloe has given me more love and more joy than I can ever repay. This is my chance to support her when she needs it.
My promise to her now is to do everything in my power to help her feel good for as long as she wants to stay here, and to shower her with love and cuddles every single day.
Thank you for reading our story, for your kindness, and for helping me keep my beautiful soul cat happy, healthy, and here a little while longer.
