Chloe White, 16 years old, was tragically struck by a pickup truck as she was riding her bicycle with a friend. She sustained multiple fractures and a severe brain injury. She was rushed to Shands Hospital where she was placed on a ventilator. During her hospital stay, she had a reaction to a medication and had to be on dialysis. She was finally taken off the ventilator and a tracheostomy breathing tube was placed to help her breathe. She is now at The Shepard Center for Rehab (a facility that specializes in brain injuries). She is still not conscious.
Her parents, Michelle and Bryan, are in dire need of funds to pay her medical bills. The person who was driving the pickup truck did not have insurance, so there was no insurance money to help with bills. They are both in the medical field, Michelle a nurse and Bryan an optician. Both are trying to work to keep their insurance and be with Chloe as much as possible.
Chloe will require long-term care with hopes she will eventually emerge from her low state of consciousness.
