Hello, I’m Shruthik Aluru and I am currently a junior at Mountain House High School. I’m leading a campaign with Chirag Foundation to give more resources to a small rural school. We are trying to accomplish this by building the extra classrooms that their students need in order to get the quality education that every child deserves.

Government TW Primary School is located in the village of Thativarivempalle, Kothaguda Mandal, Mahabubabad District, Telangana. The school currently has few resources available to serve its students.

Currently, all the students at this school share one classroom for all levels of study. Because of the large number of children in one room, the ability for these children to learn is greatly hindered by their surroundings.

In one small room, several different teachers combine their students from several different grades into one group and teach several lessons at the same time. This makes the situation very complicated for everyone involved.

Many students are required to sit outside on the ground during class because there is no room inside.

If students are not able to study outside during extreme weather (extreme heat, heavy rain from the monsoon season, or strong winds) they will be interrupted or will not attend school. A lot of these kids walk very long distances to get to school without proper shoes and many parents can’t provide them with school supplies or basic needs.

The poor conditions at the school hinder the students’ ability to learn affectivley. These children are being limited in their ability to succeed because they don’t have adequate facilities available to provide for their educational experiences.

We aim to construct 2-3 new classrooms to provide a safe, sheltered, and organized learning space for all children. With this project, every child will have an indoor space to learn and with less overcrowding, we will vastly improve the quality of educational experiences for the children in the village.

More than just education, the village faces many additional hardships that affect these families every day. Many families are dependent on daily wage labor and have little to no financial security.

As time passes, these conditions continue to worsen. While we enjoy more resources and opportunities than most, there are some who still struggle and the challenges they face can be overcome through even small gestures of support. Certainly, we owe it to them to give them the opportunity for a brighter future.

I truly believe we as a community can come together to give these children a better life. When people come together with compassion and purpose, real change becomes possible.
